The story
Reclaimed from the Chelsea Hotel, built to tell its story.
Since 1884, the historic Hotel Chelsea has stood as one of New York City's most iconic buildings — home over the years to Jimi Hendrix, Andy Warhol, Bob Dylan, Mark Twain, Jeff Beck, Stanley Kubrick, and Leonard Cohen. During renovations that began in 2011, Civil War era pine was salvaged from the building, giving rise to a rare class of old-growth pine telecasters. Working from the hotel's resident Chelsea Guitars shop, Dean Gordon transforms this reclaimed pine into a limited number of unique guitars, each carrying the resonance, character, and history of the building it came from.
